Program Overview

DreamSF is a coordinated response to inform and engage San Francisco’s potentially eligible DACA applicants and ensure their access to culturally and linguistically competent legal and immigration assistance. Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), announced on June 15, 2012, is a use of prosecutorial discretion announced by the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) that allows eligible individuals to request deferred action and work authorization for a period of two years.

DreamSF is being implemented by the San Francisco Office of Civic Engagement & Immigrant Affairs (OCEIA) in partnership with the Mayor’s Office, Department of Children, Youth & Their Families (DCYF), San Francisco Youth Commission (SF Youth Commission), San Francisco Public Library (SFPL), San Francisco Immigrant Rights Commission (IRC), and San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD). The program is also in collaboration with a network of law enforcement agencies, community, legal service, philanthropic, business and education organizations. This initiative intends to coordinate city efforts and programs to assist, educate, and inform potential applicants of the application process for deferred action and consumer immigration scams.

In order to ensure the success and full utilization of the DACA  program by all eligible individuals who will benefit from the opportunities that DACA will allow, OCEIA  is providing funding to community based organizations to provide free or low cost assistance to DACA applicants.
